Cops: Man Calls 911 After Being Shot When Trying To Rob Store
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) — Police say a man called 911 after being shot when he tried to rob a Kannapolis grocery store.
Kannapolis police arrested John Davidson III Tuesday night behind Bethpage Grocery after he was shot by the store clerk.
According to a police report obtained by CBS Charlotte, Davidson went into the grocery store and demanded money from the register. That’s when the store clerk reached for her gun and shot Davidson in the right leg and torso.
Davidson hobbled out of the store and called 911, telling the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher that he “just tried to rob the store and got shot.” Police found the suspect behind the store in some bushes.
Davidson is currently being treated at the Carolinas Medical Center Northeast for his injuries. He has been charged with assault and two counts of robbery.
