Monday Blues: A Great Sports Weekend
This weekend in sports made me anything but sad. Let us take a quick look at how things went down.
The Carolina Panthers got back into the win column with a 27-19 victory at Indianapolis. The game was a lot closer than I would have liked it to be but they covered (cha-ching!). The running game looked good and the defense had a couple of key interceptions late in the game. A win at Tampa Bay would be real nice this coming Sunday.
My (yes they are still mine) South Carolina Gamecocks tore into the Clemsuck Tigers on Saturday night in Columbia 34-13. The Gamecocks are 10-2 on the year and looking for a Jan. 2nd bowl game (I think most of the normal Jan 1 games are on Jan 2 for some reason, maybe because Jan 1 is a Sunday).
The UNC Tarholes were demolished in Las Vegas against UNLV. Seeing the Tarstains lose to an un-ranked team makes me very happy. I noticed all of the kids at my son’s school today were dressed up as Harrison Barnes… you know, walking around with crutches for 20 minutes before not needing them anymore and walking fine.
Last but not least the NBA has reached a deal with the players that will hopefully bring back professional basketball on December 25th. Maybe, just maybe, I might care when they are actually on the court.
And just in case Daniel Guy wants to try something funny when adding up the scores of our NFL Picks Contest here is a hint: I’m still in 1st place boys!
