The Carolinas’ Carrousel Parade has evolved over more than sixty years, as a regional tradition and highlight of the Holiday Season. It was founded in 1947 by four local businessmen to attract holiday shoppers to downtown Charlotte. The Parade and its ancillary events are produced by an independent, volunteer, non-profit, charitable organization, the Carolinas’ Carrousel, Inc.

Each year, the parade grows in size, excitement level and more! It draws over 100,000 people as spectators each year and includes performances, area marching bands, floats sponsored by local organizations and corporations, step and drill teams, entertainers and other specialty units!

The Belk Carolinas’ Carrousel Parade, which is also known as the Thanksgiving Day Parade, consists of approximately 100 units divided into four categories: Floats, Marching Bands, Step/Drill Teams and Special Units. All parade entries are by invitation of the parade committee. With the exception of high school Marching Bands, there is a fee to participate. Committee members and organizers strive to showcase fun, festive and family-oriented entertainment.
