On Saturday there are 5 SEC & ACC games that I believe are easy to pick the winners against the spread. So for all of you gamblers out there take note (and remember me come Christmas time):
We’ll start in the ACC with the rivalry game between the North Carolina Tarheels -3.5 at the North Carolina State Wolfpack. This line has come down from -5 and for good reason. This game has been a close one lately with the last two games decided by a combined 5 points. I feel NC State will win this game and get one step closer to being bowl eligible.
The other ACC game isn’t a conference game but is being played in Winston Salem as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Preseason Notre Dame had high expectations and were a sexy pick by some members of the media to make it to the BCS Championship game. This team is just not that good and playing Wake at home is tough, let along trying to cover a 2 touchdown spread. I feel ND might win the game but not by 13.5 so take the home team in a no-brainer.
In a non-conference SEC game Georgia hosts New Mexico State. The Bulldogs have suspended 3 players for this game, Crowell, Thomas, & Malcome. Convenient timing that is wasn’t last week when they played Florida. None-the-less Georgia will win this game but I have a hard time believing they will cover the near 5 touchdown spread. Take New Mexico State +33.5.
In an important SEC matchup featuring two top 10 teams #9 South Carolina plays at #7 Arkansas. Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks want this game badly. Not just because the Razorbacks have won 13 of 19 since ’92 but it puts them on the verge of wrapping up the SEC East and vaults them to the top of the conversation involving 1-loss teams vying for the BCS title. Look for time of possession to be the key in this game as Arkansas held the ball for 34+ minutes in 2010 and 32+ minutes in their 2009 match up. Take South Carolina +5 in a game they should win outright.
Last but not least is the biggest game of the season so far when #1 LSU takes on #2 Alabama. I think this game is easier to pick than making fun of Chris Johnson for his joke about Duke Blue Devils flopping. The Crimson Tide are the best team in the SEC West and they will prove it Saturday night in front of the whole world. The only thing Alabama has to do is score one touchdown, their amazing defense will handle the rest, putting the Tide closer to Atlanta and a spot in the SEC Championship game. Roll Tide -4.5
