Every Sunday, Daniel, Bruce and Chris will be bringing you their “expert” fantasy football advice as you look for the player that will give you the edge in your weekly matchup. Here are our week eight selections.
Start: DeAngelo Williams: Running Back, Carolina Panthers: The Panthers running back could have a big game against a Vikings defense that has given up some big games to
several backs in the league.
Sit: Ryan Fitzpatrick: Quarterback, Buffalo Bills: The Bills are “hosting” the Redskins in
Toronto and I do not expect this game to be pretty for either team. Fitzpatrick just signed an extension with the Bills and may let it go to his head and have a let down of a game.
Sleeper: Chris Johnson: Running Back, Tennessee Titans: My fantasy team is BEGGING you to finally have a decent game. Johnson has not had much production this year at all and a home contest against the Colts could be exactly what he needs to break out of his slump.
Start: BenJarvus Green-Ellis: Running Back, New England Patriots: The Law Firm should have a nice game here, the Steelers will be in a nickel package most of the game trying to slow down Tom Brady and that massive aerial attack. With that kind of look Green-Ellis should be able to eat up the smaller secondary maybe even breaking off a long one for a touchdown.
Sit: Larry Fitzgerald: Wide Receiver, Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals are going to be facing an angry Baltimore team after their bitter loss to Jacksonville last week. Throw in the fact that Beanie Wells is hurt making it even easier for the Ravens to key in on Fitzgerald here. Don’t expect a whole lot of production here.
Sleeper: Steve Breaston: Wide Receiver, Kansas City Chiefs: The Kansas City Chiefs have been coming on as of late, and they are playing a San Diego team that has been doing well the opposite. Breaston has had at least 50 yards in the last four games, look for this to continue and look for him to score in this one as well, you can thank me on Monday.
Start: Cam Newton & Steve Smith: Quarterback & Wide Receiver, Carolina Panthers: Bruce likes DeAngelo’s matchup against the Vikings, but I think the Cats will do their damage through the air. Minnesota ranks 30th in the league against the pass, and the Vikings corner back situation is poor at best. Chris Cook is suspended, Antoine Winfield is injured and may not play and Cederic Griffin has been awful this season. Look for this duo to hookup a lot tomorrow.
Sit: Brandon Lloyd: Wide Receiver, St. Louis Rams: Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is out a second straight game. Look for the Rams to lean on Steven Jackson which will severely limit Lloyd’s opportunities.
Sleeper: Torrey Smith: Wide Receiver, Baltimore Ravens: In week three, Smith torched the St Louis Rams for 152 yards and three touchdowns on just 5 catches. He was a popular fantasy add after the game, and hasn’t done much since. After a dreadful performance by the entire Ravens offense Monday night, look for quarterback Joe Flacco and the Ravens skill players to make plays. The Cardinals rank 23rd defending the pass giving up 274 yards in the air a game. Look for that number to go up, and for Smith to have a nice game with 8-9 catches around 100 yards and a touchdown.
