With week one in the books, it’s time for my first installment of my weekly NFL Power Poll. Here we go!
RK. Team (Record) (Last week) Comment
- New England Patriots (1-0) ( – ) WOW! Tom Brady. Need I say more.
- Green Bay Packers (1-0) ( – ) Aaron Rodgers already playing at MVP level after one week.
– Baltimore Ravens (1-0) ( – ) Joe Flacco finally slays the beast. Gets his first win over Steelers.
– Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) ( – ) Team looked scary fast on turf. MV7 played under control and defense frustrated Sam Bradford all day long.
– Houston Texans (1-0) ( – ) Pounded hapless Colts. If they don’t win the division this year, Gary Kubiak should be fired.
– Chicago Bears (1-0) ( – ) Bears defense once again will be a unit to be reckoned with. Offense in year 2 much improved.
- Detroit Lions (1-0) ( – ) If Matt Stafford plays a full season, this is a 10-win team at least!
- New York Jets (1-0) ( – ) Not sold yet that Mark Sanchez can lead gang green to the big game.
– San Diego Chargers (1-0) ( – ) Struggled at home against a pathetic Vikings offense. Need a win this week in New England to move up in the poll.
- New Orleans Saints (0-1) ( – ) Despite the loss at Green Bay, this team is a playoff contender.
– Arizona Cardinals (1-0) ( – ) Finally have a quarterback that get Larry Fitzgerald and Early Doucet the ball.
– Washington Redskins (1-0) ( – ) It’s only one win but beating the G-Men by 14 is a pretty good accomplishment.
– Oakland Raiders (1-0) ( – ) Despite the loss of Nnamdi and others, defense got after it and looks to be the best unit in the AFC West.
– Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1) ( – ) Obviously weren’t ready to play in Baltimore. I don’t worry about the Steelers. They will rebound and pummel hapless Seattle this week.
– Dallas Cowboys (0-1) ( – ) Outplayed the Jets for three-quarters. Only another costly Tony Romo turnover stood between them and a win.
– Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0) ( – ) Steady and smart play of quarterback Luke McCown led Jags to a season opening win.
– Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) ( – ) Losing to up and coming Lions not that bad of a loss. Have to rebound and win this week in Minnesota.
– Atlanta Falcons (0-1) ( – ) A little surprised Bears defense shut down high-flying boys from A-Town. Dirty Birds need a bounce-back win this week at home versus the Eagles.
– Buffalo Bills (1-0) ( – ) Went into rowdy Arrowhead stadium and dismantled the Chiefs. Defense and running game improved enough to at least contend for playoff spot.
- Indianapolis Colts (0-1) ( – ) Still have faith this team can win 9 to 10 games with Kerry Collins under center. Other all-pro’s need to step up and help carry the load.
- Tennessee Titans (0-1) ( – ) Titans will go as far as Matt Hasslebeck will take them. Which isn’t very far.
– San Francisco 49ers (1-0) ( – ) Hey look, a Ted Ginn, Jr. sighting in the NFL!!! This team won’t win more than six games. Still developing.
– Miami Dolphins (0-1) ( – ) Despite facing the MVP Tom Brady, this team is extremely average on defense.
– Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) ( – ) Despite comeback win over Browns on the road, this Queen City tigers wins no more than 4 games with rookie quarterback under center.
– New York Giants (0-1) ( – ) Tom Coughlin said his Giants made to many mistakes to win on the road. I agree. And the injuries to the defense may be too much to overcome.
- St. Louis Rams (0-1) ( – ) Avoided a scare when stud QB Sam Bradford only bruised his finger and didn’t break it. Need to fight their way through 3 bad injuries in week 1.
– Denver Broncos (0-1) ( – ) John Fox era underway in Denver. “It is what it is!”
– Carolina Panthers (0-1) ( – ) Will rise fast in the polls if Cam Newton keeps up record-breaking play at quarterback. Loss of Jon Beason for the season on defense could cripple the unit.
- Kansas City Chiefs (0-1) ( – ) Defending AFC West champs lost at home to Bills. If they expect to be a playoff team once again, they need to beat Detroit this week. Can’t start season 0-2.
– Cleveland Browns (0-1) ( – ) Awful loss at home to Bengals. Can’t lose at home to a team with a rookie quarterback and average at best defense.
– Minnesota Vikings (0-1) ( – ) Donovan McNabb threw for 35 yards. SERIOUSLY? Embarrassing. Need him to play at his best every week for them to compete in the very good NFC North.
– Seatte Seahawks (0-1) ( – ) This could be the worst team in the NFC this year. Need a lot of “Luck” to win more than two games this year. A lot of Andrew Luck that is!
