What happened to Kyle Singler? The 2010 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player has regressed beyond the realm of comprehension. But why? How? The 6 Foot 8 230-pound senior from Medford, Oregon, did not validate his 1st team All-ACC selection with his performance or lack thereof against arch rival North Carolina: 6 for 31 from the field; 1 for 11 from 3 point range. At carious times this season, Singler has made the Cameron Crazies MISS Joey Beard and Erik Meek. Singler looks sluggish, lathargic, and quite frankly inept. Former Duke Alumnus Mike Gminski told myself and Taylor Zarzour on “The Drive” that Singler quote: ” Looked fatigued; and has defended out of position at time throughout the season.”
To illustrate just how atrocious Singler’s play has been in the Blue Devils four losses, Singler was totally absent shooting 22 of 66 from the field & 7 of 30 from Three point Range. UGGH! Perhaps, Singler was the benefactor of the stellar play of Brian Zoubek, Jon Scheyer, and Lance Thomas during the Devbils’ magical March run. Undoubtedly, he got more shot attempts a year ago, but most importantly, he actually made them. If Mike Kryzewski has any hopes whatsoever of cutting down the nets for the Fifth time in his Hall of Fame career, Kyle Singler better get ready to do his best Senior March Madness impression of Christian Laettner.
