Here are 5 college basketball observations from this past weekend.

.)  January 30th 2012 should not a be a day Duke schedules a Big East team. They were mauled in Landover last year by Georgetown, and St. Johns did just about the same thing yesterday.  As a Duke fan,  I`m still not worried about it. The Red Storm played as well as they possibly could and Duke was as bad as can be.  Yes, this team does have issues, a lot of them. Every team does though.  If  you look at the top 25 this past week everyone is falling. I`m still very confident the Devils will be hoisting another trophy in April.

.)  NC State might be the worst coached team in America as this point. Do they even run set plays?  It was like watching a bunch of guys at the Y playing in a pick up game. You would think after 5 years that the Pack would show progress under Lowe.

.)  UNC is getting better for sure, but fans need to settle down. They beat a down Miami team at the buzzer and a declining NC State team. Tuesday at Boston College is a show me game. Show me UNC that you are getting back to a level you used to be at.

.)  This might be Rick Barnes best chance to win a National Championship at Texas. All the pieces are in place for a deep run.  If he doesnt  get it done this year, will he ever?

.)  Ohio State is going to lose soon.  Listen, I think with Texas they may be the best team in the country right now.  They have been playing these Big Ten games close lately though , and you get the feeling one might slip away soon.  Its just a matter of time before people start talking undefeated and the pressure gets to them.  Kind of like when Illinois went unbeaten for a long time with Deron Williams and Dee Brown in 2005.
